Natural Stone Countertops

Natural stones are inherently hard and durable igneous rock making them and exceptional countertop material in residential and commercial projects. Quarried from the earth, each piece of natural stone has its own unique visual appearance. Natural stone includes a range of surfaces such as granite, marble, soapstone, marble and quartzite. Natural stone is a classic and timeless choice for countertops. Natural stone countertops offer a special and one of a kind beauty that is hard to match in a man-made world.

Quartz is a man-made product comprised of natural quartz aggregate, dies, epoxies, and resins. It is stain and etch resistant. However, it is not resistant to high heat and direct sun exposure. At Front Range Stone we carry a variety of sought after brands like Cambria, Silestone and Caesarstone. Some consumers will find quartz more attractive than its natural stone counterparts because of its minimal maintenance requirements.

Based on its composition, ultra-compact will not stain or etch and is both heat and UV resistant. It can be used in both indoor and outdoor applications and will not require any maintenance beyond general cleaning. It is ideal for both countertop and wall cladding applications. Popular ultra-compact brands such as Dekton come in a variety of colors and patterns.

Solid Surface

Solid surface is a non-porous low-maintenance material. It can mimic the appearance of natural stone such as granite and marble. Solid surface’s extremely low porosity keeps bacteria away, promoting a cleaner and more sanitary countertop. Solid surface countertops can be scratched by sharp utensils or deformed by prolonged heat exposure. It is important to use cutting boards and avoid placing hot items directly on the surface.

Recycled Surface

Eco-friendly products have greatly impacted the surface industry. Recycled surface countertops are combined with bonding agents such as cement or resin to form unique and environmentally friendly surface options that compare favorably in performance to natural materials such as marble. The material is similar to marble countertops in that it should be sealed to avoid staining. Etching can occur and acidic products should be wiped up right away. Whether you wish to support a healthy planet or introduce a unique handmade material into your design, recycled surface countertops are an attractive option.

Laminate countertops are made from layers of plastic that are bonded to create a solid countertop surface. Laminate countertops are available in a wide variety of colors, textures and patterns, ranging from options that look like marble to ones that mirror the appearance of stainless steel. Because of its lightweight nature laminate countertops can easily be installed, they are also easy to clean. Laminate counters can scratch easily and you should avoid placing hot items directly onto the countertop to prevent damage.
